Ben Waxman, author

Hello, Little Dreamers! 🌈

Ben Waxman has served the children of New York City as an educator of some 54 years. After a rewarding teaching career as a teacher of Mathematics and teacher trainer Ben supported teaching and learning at the the United Federation of Teachers. During this time he served as NYC Coordinator of Support for Low Performing Schools. He went on to become Director of Middle School Initiatives at Community School District 4 and later an Local Superintendent and Network Leader.

Ben worked for several colleges as an adjunct instructor teaching courses in Administration, Discipline and Classroom Management, Pedagogy, Mathematics and Facilitation. Recruited back into the Department of Education he served as a Network Leader where he was responsible for the support of 35 NYC schools. He finished his educational career founding two consultation companies, providing support to schools throughout NYC and its suburban donut.

Ben Waxman has been repeatedly recognized by his peers and has earned acclaim by the ASCD as a Distinguished Educator, and Educator of the Year. He has been awarded the Parent Empowerment Award for Distinguished Service to the Children and Parents of New York City Public Schools by the United Parent Associations, acknowledged by the NYC Middle School Principals Association as a Distinguished Educator, and had his Network 534 repeatedly evaluated as a top performing network.

Ben has been writing children’s stories for the last 40 years. He wrote primarily for the enjoyment of his two children, Matthew and Lindsey, reinforcing societal moral understandings of a quality community member. As his children grew, he realized that there was a need to share these stories with other children, inspiring their "moral character" and so began his publishing career.

To date, he has written several children’s books including, “The Doodads of Lindsey Love,” “The Legend of Lucas Green,” “Matthew and the Sea,” “Sam-Sam the Seagull Man,” and “Five Part Harmony.” Several of which are in the process of publication. He also has written an Anthology of Poems for his adult audience with a focus on "moral character", nature, love, and life.
